A Double Portion of Grace and Peace

God’s grace and peace to you this day!

Just as Elisha asked the Lord for a double portion of Elijah’s spirit so my prayer today is that the Lord would grant all of us a double portion of grace and peace!  What a disturbing week we have all experienced.

Mark Roberts writes about Psalm 12 in a devotional this morning entitled, “What to Do When Things Keep Getting Worse,”  Read it here:

The first part of our response must be to  seek the Lord for help — not only as individuals but also as a community and a world.  We need to acknowledge that our solution rests in God alone; but we also need to willing to be used by God to be a part of the solution.  We must not raise our hands in defeat and we must not become cynical or negative, says Roberts.  We must  “find the moral resolve to try and fight back, to stand for goodness in the face of mounting evil.”  We can only find that resolve to do the effective work of God, in reconciliation and righting the wrongs, when we are guided and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Let us first be the people of God in order to do the work of God!

May that double portion of God’s grace and Spirit reside in your heart today!
