Breakfast With the Christmas Angel

Grace and peace to you from God the Father and Jesus the Christ!

Yesterday was our Annual Breakfast with he Christmas Angel.  It was wonderful and we were so privileged  to be able to share it with our community!  Every year I love watching the faces of the children and their wide-eyed wonder that is so contagious. Their expressions and sometimes their words remind me of how I want to approach the wonders and mysteries of God. So here is my favorite story from yesterday; may it bless you in the way it has blessed me.
One little girl was tugging on her coat as she was getting ready to leave,  I said, “Do you need help getting your coat down?”  She said, “Yes and would you help me put it on?” “Sure.” I said and offered to hold her story bag as we got her coat on.  When we were done she asked. “Can I show you my angel I made?’  “I would love to see your angel,”
I replied.  She showed me the ornament she had made at the craft table and I “oohed and ahhhed” over what a great job she had done and how pretty it was.  Then she said to me, “Can I show you the REAL angel?” ” Yes!”, I said,  “I would love to see a REAL angel.”  And the little girl led me back into the Fellowship Hall and over to Linda, our lovely Christmas Angel, and said, That’s the REAL angel!”
So if you need a reason to continue telling God’s story, if you want a thank-you for all that you did to help yesterday, if you need to remember why we spend weeks and months getting ready for these little ones to hear the Christmas story — there you have it!
May you be blessed as you come to this time of Advent with eyes and spirits of wonder and trust like that of a child!
And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.  Matthew 18:3
