God’s Grace and Peace to you this day!
Today is identified as the second Sunday of Epiphany. One writer says, for her, epiphanies are all about God showing up. We have some “God showing up” stories in our family; one story my Dad tells is about the nickel in the Cracker Jack box. We all see God’s handprint all over the story of my sister’s adoption; my brother’s first visit to Helene; and my journey into and through seminar. When God shows up our lives are changed.
I loved reading the story of young Samuel this week; my favorite verse in 1 Sam. 3:7 —“ Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, and the word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him.” But then God showed up and Samuel’s life was changed.
I hope that in this season of Epiphany, you too can reflect on how and when God has shown up and is showing up for you. I hope you will tell the stories so that others might be encouraged. Wouldn’t it be a great way to spend a cold winter’s day, recounting all those “God showed up” stories from our lives. Take some time to remember and share those stories; it will warm you right up and you will be blessed as well as being a blessing to others!
In God’s great joy!
