God’s grace and peace to you this day,
It was barely audible
The movement of the bushes.
It made me turn to see.
What a delightful surprise!
Two young deer
Parted the foliage
And made their way onto
The level ground.
Their bodies illumined in the
First rays of morning sun.
They lifted and stretched forth
Their lithesome legs
Ever so gracefully moving forward.
And then they were gone.
It was but a moment to behold
Their graceful presence .
They left behind a delightful
Picture in my mind
Of beauty, of movement, of light.
What other wonderful
Discoveries will this day hold?
God you are present.
In every new discovery.
What a difference a single moment can make in our day! Had I not turned to see what was making the sound I would have missed that inspiration for the day. It makes me wonder how many times I neglect to turn around when God is present in that wee small whisper, barely audible. How often do I miss the inspiring presence of God because I do not listen or do not take the time to turn toward the rustling. Busyness causes us to feel so alone when we miss those daily moments of God’s presence with us. Sometimes it is our own burdens or the noises in our own lives that make us unable to take time to hear and see what is going on around us.
God, give us ears to hear and eyes to see your presence around us, among us and within us. Help us to daily discover your presence.
“The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
3 They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
4 Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.”
