Know? Then Do!

God’s grace and peace to you on this day!

Our Monday night Bible study group has just finished reading a book about Sabbath rest and joy.  For those in the midst of hectic schedules it offers simple ways to be observe a time of Sabbath; for those whose schedules may be more relaxed it has helped to make us more aware of God’s continued presence.  It is a beautifully written book and reading it through the summer has helped to  prepared us of the increased activities of the fall. The important part is to learn to practice Sabbath!  Like anything else, knowing is not always doing and we want to be people who enjoy being in the presence of God.

The same goes for reading scripture.  Reading and knowing scripture needs to impact our lives in a way that results in our “doing” what scripture calls us to do.  It is not enough to have only head knowledge, scripture calls us to change our lives and our actions to reveal the heart of God for ourselves and others.  “Doing” or “living out” scripture is one way that God is revealed to us and through us.

How are you doing in living out what you know about God?  How do your actions reveal the love of God to others?  Whether we are living out ways to find Sabbath rest and joy or ways to love one another, may we be continually aware that our lives are proclaiming God to the world around us.
