God’s Grace and Peace to you this day!
The ending of the school year is packed full of graduation events, parties and special celebrations. It is a time of celebrating student accomplishments and reflecting on and celebrating the many people who have had a part in guiding the students achievement along the way.
Today at First Presbyterian Church we will have a similar celebration. Not so much about graduation and accomplishments but more about those who have guided us along the way. Today we will celebrate and say “thank you” to our Choir and to our Sunday School teachers!
The Choir has lead us in worship and helped us to hear and experience God in wonderful ways, through anthems, through leading us in hymns and songs and in introducing us to new music. They have sacrificed their Wednesday nights to practice and they arrive early every Sunday morning. They have offered their gifts of harmony and skill in inspiring and energetic ways. Bob spends many hours in preparing for Sunday mornings and blesses us in so many ways with the music he chooses for preludes and postludes, for communion, for times of centering as we gather. He blesses us with the majesty of the stately hymns and with the energy of joyful choruses.
Our Sunday School teachers have been a blessing to all of us by pouring time, imagination and lots of love into our children. The children that attend are always so proud of their “crafted creations” and love to show them off. Our children have been learning about God’s creation and how each part is connected to the other and how all are connected through the God that made them. They are learning that God is good and that God is loving; as image-bearers of God they too are made to be loving towards all that God has created. These teachers, under the leadership of Cathy Kirk, prepare for weekly lessons and crafts, but more importantly pour their weekly presence into these children saying you are important and you matter to us.
As we worship this morning, we give special thanks to God for the gifts, time and talents of these men and women who guide us each week. Thank-you to all of you! Each one of you blesses us in a very special way!
