God’s Grace and Peace to you this day.
These are cold, cold mornings; please be careful in your comings and goings and dress warmly!
Sometimes the words of Scripture pierce my heart and I love to read them over and over. This Sunday the passage form Isaiah in our lectionary has been such a passage for me. If you are in worship this morning you will hear it more than once but for those who cannot be there here it is in part:
“I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my whole being shall exult in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness….”
…and you shall be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will give. You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.” Isaiah 61:10-62:3
We will be worshipping the Lord with great joy this morning. My prayer is that we can all carry that joy into the New Year as we celebrate the wondrous works of the Lord in our lives and in the lives of God’s people throughout all generations. May you bask in the warmth of the joy of the Lord for God has given you a new name and you are a crown of beauty in the hand of your God! May you live into that joy in the coming year.
In great joy,
